Great Lakes Fishing Charters LLC offers charters from ports across the Great Lakes. We are constantly reviewing fishing success rates around the Great Lakes to keep Captain Eric’s boats “hooked” and “hooked again” in the “hottest” ports at their “prime” times each season. Every fisherman understand that each port has good or excellent fishing at some point each season. We take this to the next level and position our boats in the areas that have consistently been the best at their time each year. The ports we fish on Lake Michigan are Ludington, Pentwater, Arcadia, Elberta and Frankfort. On Lake Erie we fish from Monroe north to Detroit and south to the Toledo channel. Our dock on Lake St. Clair is centrally located. Regardless of the port you can be sure we are close to the schools of fish and won’t need to travel far to catch them.
This philosophy also gives us the opportunity to fish for a wide variety of fish species including Atlantic Salmon, Bass, Brown Trout, Catfish, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, King Salmon, Lake Trout, Perch, Pink Salmon, Steelhead and Walleye.
Certain fish species prefer very cold water while others prefer rather warm water. Some fish species return to a river or stream to spawn while others look for rocky reefs or a sandy lake bottom. These are only a few of the variables that make a port good for some types of fishing and not for others. Our charters put you in the “prime” locations for the type of fish you want to catch.
Some species are best caught by trolling. Other species might require a drifting technique. Still others require a vertical or casting presentation for best results. The various types of fishing require different types of boats and equipment.
Our primary boat when trolling for Salmon, Trout and Walleye is “hooked” a 30’ Baha Cruisers Sportfisherman with twin inboard engines. The layout of this boat is as near to perfect as we have found for fishing. The deck is open and flat. Engines are fully below deck so there are no exposed engine boxes to stumble around. There are no steps in the fishing area. The flush deck extends from the transom forward to the dinette and helm area. A 10-˝’ beam and open floor plan leave plenty of room for a group of six fisherman. The sides of the boat are nice and high for a secure feeling with children on board. The electronics package on this boat is awesome. We have rigged this boat to run as many as 16 rods. Whether you are fighting a fish in the back of the boat or relaxing in the dinette area you are never more than a few steps away from the next pole to catch a fish. Hooked also has a hardtop over the dinette and helm; a nice feature when you have had to much sun on the hot days. On cooler days we run cabin heaters for added comfort. The forward cabin has a private head (bathroom) for your comfort on the water.
We added a new boat “hooked again” primarily for Walleye, Perch and Bass fishing. This 22’ Center Console catamaran is made by Twin Vee. The ride and stability of the hull design is awesome. The layout includes bathroom facilities in the center console area, a very larger flat front deck area which is used as a casting platform, and an unbelievable amount of fishing space up and down both sides of the boat. We have equipped this boat to the max with a first class electronics package, quality rods, reels and tackle for each type of charter fishing we offer. In addition to twin Suzuki four stroke outboards we have installed a bow mounted and a transom mounted trolling motor. Whether we are trolling, back trolling, sliding the current or vertical jigging these power options assure the right trolling speeds and boat control for every fishing presentation. In cooler weather the boat is rigged with strata glass curtains across bow deck. This feature encloses the front third of the boat to break the wind and keep everyone warm and dry without restricting headroom or fishability.
Whether you fish with us aboard hooked or hooked again you will find the boats have been equipped with all the required safety equipment and much more. Your safety is our first concern. For this reason all the safety systems have a backup. Two marine band radios, two or more depth finders, two GPS receivers for navigation, multiple chart plotters and displays, two bilge pumps and twin engines. We have radars onboard both vessels to track weather and for navigation in limited visibility. These are the boats pictured at the top of this page.
When you charter with us you will receive personal attention and instruction from the captain. We are glad to bait lines and take fish off the hooks so that you can keep busy catching fish. Over the years many of our customers have become involved in setting lines and netting fish. We are happy to teach you the routine so you can be as involved in the whole fishing experience as you like.
Everyone wants to catch fish, lots of fish. Fish with us at the “prime times” in the “hottest ports“.
